An Introduction to Wilderness Therapy & Forest Bathing – Saturday, Dec. 7 at Hiwassee/Ocoee State Park (10:00am to 3:00pm). 423-263-0050
Life is full of ups and downs. Many folks find themselves at times dealing with grief, trauma, hopelessness, substance abuse and a variety of mental illnesses. After hiking over 2,200 miles in the woods from Georgia to Maine, I have learned that time spent in nature is some of the best medicine that one could ever take. The main goal of this hybrid program is to help you discover some of the different avenues of therapy/healing that are available in the natural world.
During this program, we will discuss the concept of Wilderness & Adventure Therapy. In this safe and judgment free environment, we will also be guided in the ancient/primal art of “Forest Bathing”, basically, connecting with nature.
This program will be led by (2018 Appalachian Trail Thru-hiker) Ranger Jeremy/OnStep. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Counseling and a Masters of Arts in Discipleship & Small Group Ministry. Ranger Jeremy has a strong passion to see people from all walks of life discover how connecting with the earth can be downright beneficial for yourself and for the environment. (This program is open to everyone, regardless to one’s race, creed, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation & gender. All folks are welcome and accepted.)
WHERE: Initially, we will meet at the Gee Creek Campground Visitor Center. Then we will drive to the Gee Creek Wilderness Area and embark on our adventure.
