National Trails Day – Saturday, June 4 at Hiwassee/Ocoee State Park (9am to 12 pm).
Hiwassee/Ocoee Rivers State Park is hosting a very special National Trails Day. Be a part of a special day to help complete our Outdoor Classroom followed by a hike on our loop trail. Having an outdoor classroom here at our park provides educators a way to share the outdoors with their students. Studies have shown that being outdoors not only helps in our physical health, but also our mental health Please wear sturdy hiking shoes, bring along some water, and a pair of work gloves. We will be lopping shrubs, spreading mulch, and moving stumps to create a seating area. After we complete this project, there will be a Ranger led hike on our loop trail hike. This hike is rated as easy and is 1.3 miles long. Along our hike we will discuss native flora, fauna, and the history of park. Be a part of something special. Celebrate the 85th Anniversary of TN State Parks and National Trails Day by leaving a positive impact on our park for generations to come! 423-263-0050
