Tellico Blockhouse Garrison

Tellico Blockhouse Garrison – Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8 at The Tellico Blockhouse (10:00am to 2:00pm).

Before Tennessee was accepted as a state, this wild area became the Southwest Territory.  Yet before the region could thrive, peace had to be established between the United States and the Cherokee Nation.  In 1794 a treaty of peace was signed at the newly built Tellico Blockhouse, which then became a military garrison to keep the peace on the frontier.
In this inaugural Tellico Blockhouse garrison, come see it brought to life, learn about the soldiers stationed there, the Cherokees living alongside, and how the course of American history was changed forever.

This is a free event, but donations will be accepted.  Call 423-420-2331 to register for this event.

The Tellico Blockhouse site can be accessed from Highway 411 just north of the Little Tennessee River bridge in Vonore, only a few miles from Fort Loudoun.
